One Nation Under God ~ Part Nine Prepare for Battle (Continued)

We are at a cross roads for our nation. We can either continue on the path to destruction or turn back to God and ask Him to forgive us and bless us once again.

We were once a proud Godly nation that cared about our neighbors and were willing to help them no matter what it hardship it would create. This was a matter of personal choice, not a mandated action created by an ungodly government. The path we are currently on is one that will doom us to oblivion. The moral fiber of this once great nation has deteriorated to the point that God may not be willing to over look it much longer. Just as in Sodom and Gomorrah the Lord saw an abomination unto his eyes and destroyed the people who were wicked in there thoughts and actions, so he will do to us if we do not repent and ask for forgiveness and his eternal blessings.

We do not know when our Lord will come to pass judgment on all the earth and all who live here. We only know that it will happen. Unless we seek God’s forgiveness we will be doomed to eternal damnation. We cannot “wait to see what happens” in hopes of gaining favor at the last minute. No favor will be given, no blessings will be given, no eternal life with the Lord will be given if we “wait and see”. We must bring our nation back from the brink of the abyss. We must take action now in order to save our country from oblivion. Most of us are Born Again Christians and now we must become born again Americans. We must make every effort to bring our country back to God.

We must, as Americans, go back to the words of Thomas Jefferson:

“The way to have good and safe government is not to trust it all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to everyone exactly the functions in which he is competent . . .

“—To let the National Government be entrusted with the defense of the nation, and its foreign and federal relations . . .”

“—The State Governments with the Civil Rights, Laws, Police and administration of what concerns the State generally.”

“—The Counties with the local concerns, and each ward direct the interests within itself.”

It is by dividing and subdividing these Republics from the great national one down through all its subordinations until it ends in the administration of everyman’s farm by himself, by placing under everyone what his own eye may superintend, that all will be done for the best.”

We must, as Americans, go back to the words of Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address:

. . . that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedomand that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Let us, as Americans, consider the words of Samuel Adams:

. . . The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude and perseverance. Let us remember that “if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom,” it is a very serious consideration . . . that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event.”

 Preview of part Ten:   Conclusion

We, as Americans, should never live in fear of our government. However, look around you. Everywhere we are there the government is, using its might and power to block some of our more basic rights. The government has grown so powerful that every aspect of our lives is controlled by it. This is by no means what the founding fathers intended.

We, as Americans, should heed these words of Thomas Jefferson:

“When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny.”
